CONFLICTS ET RECONCILIATIONS
About "Conflicts et Reconciliations"
Within the framework of the CinEuro Film Lab, the Région Grand Est is launching and coordinating in 2026 a thematic programme dedicated to conflicts and reconciliations, in line with its policy of supporting genre cinema and emerging talent, led by the Région Grand Est and its partners, as well as with its new memory strategy.
This programme is part of a broader ambition to support co-production projects by showcasing the CinEuro territories through a sensitive and distinctive perspective, around a theme that is both historical and emotional. The theme of conflicts and reconciliations are addressed in the broadest sense (industrial, social or environmental conflicts, European reconstruction, family or generational reconciliations, etc.), without being limited to the question of wars.
Inspiration Phase
The approach proposed through the inspiration sessions and the overall thematic programme “Conflicts and Reconciliations” aims to explore territories as narrative reservoirs where past, present and future intersect, in order to foster the emergence of distinctive regional stories. It highlights memory-laden places, border areas, as well as historical and contemporary figures and events that shape the identity of these territories.
In this context, three inspiration sessions are planned throughout 2026, each offering a rich and innovative programme, both in terms of inspiration and locations, as well as opportunities for professional networking and skills development:
#1 Metz–Verdun
#2 Schirmeck
#3 Mulhouse–Basel–Mannheim
Scriptwriting phase and production development support
Région Grand Est, through the CinEuro Film Lab, is rolling out a writing workshop programme dedicated to the theme “Conflicts and Reconciliations”, in partnership with the Centre de résidence de l’écriture à l’image de Saint-Quirin. The programme is structured around six key in-person and online sessions, running from October 2026 to July 2027.
This initiative supports the development of live-action and animated feature film projects. Held in highly symbolic locations across the Grand Est region (France), the residency runs alongside two major events: the War on Screen Festival (Châlons-en-Champagne) and the Forum Alentours (Strasbourg).
