Call for applications for CinEuro Film Lab: Writing workshops on "Conflicts et Reconciliations"

Tailored writing programme between 2026 and 2027

The Région Grand Est, through the CinEuro Film Lab, is launching a support programme for script development and production preparation on the theme of “Conflicts and Reconciliations”, in collaboration with the Centre de Résidence de l’écriture à l’image in Saint-Quirin.

This high-quality script-doctoring initiative also includes a professional development component, featuring discussions around international co-production as well as participation in key events organised alongside two major cultural events in the Grand Est region: the War on Screen Festival (Châlons-en-Champagne) and the Forum Alentours (Strasbourg).

This call, like the thematic programme as a whole, is part of the Région Grand Est’s policy to support genre cinema and emerging talent, while also contributing to the implementation of its new memorial strategy adopted on 16 October 2025.

Target public

Designed for screenwriters with or without a producer attached, this initiative supports the development of live-action or animated feature film projects. Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Have written, directed, or produced at least one fiction or documentary project (short film, feature film, or series) that has received institutional funding or benefited from professional distribution (festival selection, TV broadcast).

Be based within the cooperation area of the Upper Rhine and Greater Region (Brussels-Capital Region, Wallonia, Luxembourg, Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, Grand Est, the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and Aargau); or be supported by a producer whose production company is established in one of these territories; or develop a project related to the theme “Conflicts and Reconciliations” within the CinEuro territories.

Submit only one project. If the project is developed by a team, one representative must be designated as the project lead and submit the application. If selected, the entire team may only participate in pitch preparation and pitching sessions.

• Submit a project that has not previously benefited from development support.

• In the case of producer involvement, the project must have been optioned by a production company headquartered in one of the CinEuro territories in France, Switzerland, Germany, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, or Belgium (each production company may option only one project).

Be available for all sessions.

• The working language during the workshops will be English. A good command of English is therefore essential. The pitch sessions will be conducted in either German or French, depending on the language of the project.

NB: The screenwriter may also intend to direct the film, but this is not required. Please indicate this in the statement of intent.
