CinEuro Film Lab : Inspiration Session #1 - Conflicts and Reconciliation

The CinEuro Film Lab, with the help of the Region Grand est, is launching a call for applications to an Inspiration Session in the realm of the “Conflicts and Reconciliation” thematic. This session will take place in Schirmeck at the Mémorial d’Alsace-Moselle and the Mur des Noms on the 21st of October 2026.

Open for a delegation of ten professionals from the movie and audiovisual industry originating from CinEuro’s member territories from France, Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg and Switzerland*, the programme offers a deep understanding of European reconstruction and the role that women occupy in the memories of war.

The participants will be questioning how some war-time stories were left on the sidelines of the greater historical narrative and how they can be used to inspire new cinematic writings. A particular focus will be granted to women in greater historical narratives, like the Malgré-elles whose story stayed unknown for a long time. in order to do so, they will watch the Malgré-elles documentary, participate to a roundtable made of the documentary’s director and two researchers, followed by a visit of both the Memorial of Alsace-Moselle and the Wall of Names (Mur des Noms).

This session will provide its participants with a time for inspiration, dialogue and meetings all centered around the topic of women during periods of war and their aftermaths. One question spread throughout all of our cross border European territories will be at the heart of this event : How can we tell the stories of conflicts, shared memories and reconciliation ?

Wedenesday October 21st – Schirmeck

• 10 – 10:30 AM: Welcome coffee at the Mémorial Alsace Moselle ;
• 10:30 – 11:30 AM: Presentation of the program, the keynote speakers and screening of the documentary Malgré-elles (52 min.) ;
• 11:30 AM – 01 PM : Round-table and open discussions on the role and memory of the “Malgré-elles” (and women in general) during WW2. Case-study with Marie Fridick (PhD student in contemporary history at the University of Lorraine), Marie-Janot Caminade (sociologist specialized in the aftermaths of conflict) and Nina Barbier (director of the Malgré-elles documentary)
• 01 – 02:15 PM : Lunch ;
• 02:30 – 04 PM : Guided tour of the Mémorial Alsace Moselle and the Mur des Noms
• 04 PM : End of the program
