The "Society" sequence
This sequence, organised by MFG Baden-Württemberg as the lead partner, covers a wide range of topics and areas that could be important for society as a whole, but also for everything that connects our societies.
Phase 1: Inspiration-Session
This Inspiration-Session entitled ‘Hidden Truths – Investigative Approaches for Documentary Filmmaking’ was organised on 14 November 2025 by MFG Baden-Württemberg in collaboration with the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival (IFFMH). Around twenty screenwriters and directors from various countries had the opportunity to exchange ideas on journalistic approaches to researching and producing documentary films in an exclusive setting made possible by the opening of the IFFMH.
Phase 2 & 3: Writing workshops and production support
The two phases, which correspond to tailored support in writing and implementation, comprise the thematic sequence ‘Beyond Borders’. These two interrelated themes led to the joint sequence ‘Beyond Borders, within societies’ and enrich creativity in terms of screenplays that can be presented at the end of the ‘Society’ sequence as part of the Forum Alentours 2026.
The call for applications to participate in this one-year support programme ended in October 2025. Stay tuned to participate to the Forum Alentours and hear the pitches of the selected and supported scenarios!
