Allocation decision process :

Recommendations of the committee of experts made up of seven members. In the case of financing for contributions to the production of up to 30 000 CHF, a project agreement is usually made that stipulates the payment of contribution instalments. In the case of financing for contributions to the production more than 30,000 CHF, a letter of intention is first signed. A request for payment of the subsidy can only be made during a project agreement, after a positive assessment of the definitive documents, in particular the budget and definitive financing plan with proof of the full financing.

Eligibility requirements :

▪ Eligible: production companies based in the Basel region, film and audiovisual artists (for projects < 30,000 CHF), as well as projects that are highly pertinent for the place where they are produced and which have high cultural importance for the Basel region
▪ Projects must aim for national and international use (festivals, movie theatres, television, internet, etc.).
▪ Contributions may be made to Swiss productions and to the Swiss share of International coproductions.
▪ For subsidies to fiction and animation film production: filming cannot start before the decision to grant a subsidy has been made.
▪ For documentary projects: the film shoot can start before the before the decision to grant a subsidy has been made, but the application must indicate if and how much of it has already been filmed.
▪ Films < 60 minutes receive between 15,000 CHF to 50,000 CHF
▪ The funding allocated to the total production must not be more than 50% of the total of the production costs attributable in Switzerland. 70% in certain cases.
